Thorpe Construction & Development is a premier construction company in Wilmington, NC, specializing in commercial and multifamily projects. With a focus on early design phase construction management, we offer comprehensive services across various sectors.

James W Thorpe is owner & Founder of Thorpe Construction & Development!
He started working in the construction field in Connecticut in the 80s building decks and small additions.
When he had a chance to start working in VA in the 90s with multi family contracts, he decided to work for a big Corp doing projects all over VA. VA was booming and after 5 years of that, James formed a few companies and started buying and building smaller sites. Then he partnered with 2 friends and blew it up building 5 major projects in the retirement industry.
2008 came and James had to make a move. He went back to multi family housing projects in New Jersey, and has been involved with huge projects for last 10 years plus.
In 2022 James relocated to Wilmington NC to build his brothers new Corporate office building; over 25,000 sq feet of modern office space to support the future growth of the company.
James has 4 children, Logan, Stefan, Jack, and Farrell, and is blessed with 4 grandchildren.
